Live Coding In Mercury (free & online)

Workshop

During this free workshop, split into three online sessions, you will learn how to code beats, synthesizers, and generative music with the Mercury live coding environment.

#1: In the first session we will install the necessary software and make sure it works for everyone (see system requirements below). Then we'll program a few basic rhythms using samples and even download your own sounds from for example freesound.

#2: In the second session we'll see how to program melodic instruments with the available synths. Use some generative functions to create melodic information for the notes, or control parameters in the instruments.

#3: In the last session we will go deeper into algorithmic composition techniques. Using a wide range of functions to create generative music. For those interested, we will also look into controlling external midi-devices via the code or send out OSC messages.

Requirements:
Windows 10 or Mac 10.12+ with at least i5 Processor and 4 GB RAM
